Born in 2017, Empire Kenya is part of the globally respected Empire Group, sharing the same passion and purpose that drive our parent company, Empire Teas Sri Lanka. In just eight years, we’ve achieved remarkable growth, exporting over 7 million kilograms of tea from Kenya, while our Group’s total exports have exceeded 22 million kilograms worldwide.
At Empire Kenya, our mission is simple yet powerful: to craft and promote the finest African tea blends and make them available to a global audience that values authenticity, quality, and heritage. Today, we proudly stand as one of the leading tea exporters in Africa, delivering premium teas to more than 50 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, CIS States, and West Africa.
Kenya’s tea legacy began in 1903, when the first tea seeds were planted in its rich, red soil, and over time, the country has grown to become the world’s largest tea exporter.
Empire Kenya carries this legacy forward through the CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) production process, ensuring consistent quality and the rich flavour profiles that make Kenyan tea world-renowned.
Our flagship brand, “Akina – With Love From Africa,” embodies the heart of our story, a brand that celebrates the bold & beautiful African Women and the soul of African tea and is now gaining strong global recognition for its quality and authenticity.
Behind every blend is a team of highly trained professionals working in state-of-the-art facilities equipped with advanced production, blending, cleaning, and packing systems. Our factories also feature modern tea bag machinery, capable of producing a wide range of formats, including Single Chamber, Double Chamber (Constanta & Compacta), and Metal-Free Teabags. Supported by cutting-edge laboratories, we guarantee that every batch meets the highest international standards.
